Prior to Truman, Katrina completed a post-doctoral position in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Purdue University. She received her MA and PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology from George Mason University and her BA in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame. Katrina specializes in teaching Child Development and Developmental Psychology. Her research focuses on developing and assessing early academic interventions for children from low-income families, aiming to address the challenges posed by poverty and systemic inequalities. Her overarching research goal is to inform educational instruction and policy, as well as provide resources for teachers and parents, to positively affect the lives of children in underserved communities. In addition to her academic and research pursuits, Katrina is a licensed foster and respite care provider in Adair County. She is the faculty advisor for Alpha Sigma Alpha and faculty co-advisor for Psi Chi.
