Foundation Board: Timothy Walston Tim Walston is dean of Science and Mathematics and a professor of biology at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ. He has been in that position since 2017. Prior to that, he served as interim associate dean of Science and Mathematics and chair for the Biology Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Taylor University, a Master of Science in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and a Doctor of Philosophy in genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He started his teaching career at Truman in 2006. During his time at Truman, he has worked with a team of faculty to explore, understand, and decrease the barriers to earning a STEM degree for students from underrepresented backgrounds, including minorities, low socioeconomic class, first-generation college students, rural students, and community college transfer students. He has been a principal investigator or co-principal investigator on $3 million of National Science Foundation grants to support his research in these areas.
