The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ admits up toÌý60 students each fall semester. Admission to the nursing major is competitive and requires both admission to the University and completion of a separate nursing application.Ìý

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the Nursing Program, applicants must:Ìý

• Be admitted to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ
• Submit a completed Nursing Program application
• Meet the minimum academic requirements:
  • ACT score of 20 or higher, including science
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Submit all required supporting materials, including:
  • Official transcripts
  • Personal essay/career goals statement to the nursing field

Meeting theÌýminimumÌýrequirements does not guarantee admission, as available seats areÌýlimitedÌýand applications are reviewed competitively.Ìý

Application Process

Step 1: À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ

Applicants must firstÌýsubmitÌýan application for admission to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and receive an admission decision from the University.Ìý

Step 2: À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ to the Nursing Program

Once admitted to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, applicants must complete theÌýBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Application.Ìý

The BSN program is intended for:Ìý

• First-year studentsÌý
• Transfer studentsÌý
• Current Truman students changing majorsÌý

The BSN degree requires approximatelyÌý122 credit hoursÌýand is designed as aÌýfour-year programÌýwith aÌýfall semester start.Ìý

Application Deadline

• Applications open August 1.
• Initial application reviews will begin in September and will continue through fall semester or until all admission decisions have been finalized.
• No applications will be accepted after January 1.

Admissions to Nursing is competitive with limited seats available. Applicants are encouraged to submit their application early in the Fall semester.

Application Review

Applicants will receive notification of their admission status shortly after committee review. Admission decisions fall into one of three categories: Admitted, Waitlisted, and Denied.

Admitted

The applicant has been offered a seat in the Nursing Program. Acceptance of the seat must be completed for the applicant to officially be admitted to the Program.

Waitlisted

The applicant meets admission standards, but has not been offered an immediate seat. Placement on the waitlist does not guarantee future admission.

Denied

The applicant was not selected for admission to the Nursing Program.

Important Notes

• Admission to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ does not automatically guarantee admission to the Nursing Program. Students admitted to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, but denied to the Nursing Program, will still have ability to apply to the Nursing program the following fall
• The Nursing Program admits a limited cohort of approximately 60 students each fall.
• Because admission is competitive, applicants are encouraged to submit strong academic credentials and thoughtfully prepared application materials.
