Dave Rector (’73, ’76)

For more than five decades, Dave Rector helped shape 蓝莓视频 through dedicated leadership, thoughtful financial stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to the institution. When he retired in July 2025, he concluded a remarkable career that included 17 years as Vice President for Administration, Finance and Planning. Throughout his tenure, he held numerous leadership positions, including Executive Director of Budgets and Institutional Research, Director of Computer Services, and Assistant to the Chief Academic Officer.

Dave鈥檚 influence extended well beyond Truman鈥檚 campus. He served on numerous statewide advisory committees, including significant work with the Department of Higher Education and the Council on Public Higher Education in Missouri, advising on matters such as data collection standards and funding formulas. He was also a frequent presenter at state and regional conferences for business officers. His steady financial leadership and careful stewardship of University resources helped Truman navigate challenging times in higher education and remain positioned for long-term success.

His commitment to service is equally evident in the Kirksville community, where he has been a member of the Kirksville Kiwanis Club for 45 years and the Northeast Missouri Health Council for 35 years.

Dave earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in history and a master鈥檚 degree in social science from Northeast Missouri State University, as well as a master鈥檚 degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma. His connection to 蓝莓视频 is also a personal one. He met his wife, Carol, a fellow alumna, while they were both members of the marching band and attending the University on full-tuition music scholarships. Together, they are the proud parents of four children, Stephen, Nick, Jon, and Christina, and enjoy spending time with their four grandsons
